Big Cheese Gourmet Shop has been vending at Farmer's Markets in Southwest Florida for the past eight years.  Offering over 50 varieties, we specialize in artisan & craft cheeses imported from Europe, as well as creameries from around the United States.  We also sell delicious Pate, handmade all natural salami, locally sourced blueberry jelly, gourmet crackers, authentic Frence Baguettes and have our very own all purpose spice blends for bread dipping and as rubs.  Of course, we always have samples available and cheese accessories.

We have cheese for everyone!  Vegetarian, Gluten Free, Lactose Intolerant.  We purchase our cheese by the block, wheel or log and cuts them to random sizes and price by weight.

Big Cheese is available to do educational cheese pairings with beer or wine and prepare cheese platers for your special occasions.

Our gourmet shop is located at 307 Taylor St. in beautiful down town Punta Gorda.

Since 2012 we have been excited to be a  part of the Venice Farmer's Market.  We feature Butchers Gourmet melt in your mouth marinated sirloin tips and chicken.  From the Three Sons Rance in Punta Gorda we carry their 100% grass fed, antibiotic & hormone free ground beef & bison.  Our prime pork ribeyes, filet minon and ribeye steaks are exceptional.  Ipswich Clambake is our New England partner providing award winning soups, chowders & lobster bisque.  Our old neighbor from Danvers, Ma. is the source of prepared haddock, cod, sole & tilapia.  The Real Deal gourmet stuffed clams, seared ahi tuna, Maine lobster meat, Kayem natural casing hotdogs and New England hot dog rolls give you a hint of where we come from.  Our local Brewburgers' award winning Suncoast BBQ chili is a customer favorite.  Every week we bring a selection of gluten free breads and muffins from the Sarasota Stella Bakery.  In season, or by request, we will have numerous prepared foods made popular at our former retail store.

Trained by Tomato George, I  will do my best to present our customers with an attractive display of the best of the season, fruits and vegetables available in Florida.  Tomato George was one of the first vendors, to help start our market over 15 years ago, I have been at the market through rain, freezing cold, and blistering heat.

We have three growing seasons here in Florida, fall, winter. and spring. In everyone else’s growing season, summer, we have to have most everything shipped to us from the north.  Vegetables need cooler nights to produce fruit, than we have in the tropics.  I only bring products to the markets that are nutritious, fresh, and attractive to the eye that I would enjoy in my own home.

Cross-marketing is one of Chef Chasky's specialties and he practices that by incorporating into his cuisine the products sold by other vendors at the market, such as meats, produce, pasta, and other various items to create one stop shopping at the market.

Free recipes for each dish are provided at no cost to the consumer so that everyone can cook like a celebrity at home for their family and friends.

Efrain "Chef Ef" Martinez has had over 19 years of experience in the food service industry.  Raised in San Andres in the south of Spain, Chef Ef learned much of his art of Spanish cooking from his grandmother Dona Felicita Perez de Garcia.  He returned to the United States to pursue a career in the Culinary Arts. After receiving a Degree in Culinary Arts from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y., he created La Posada Restaurant and Catering Co.  His unique talent and passion for the art of Spanish cooking was then displayed on the PBS series "Chef Ef" and the TV Food Network "Cafe Ole".

Alexa Dippolito, Owner

Alexa Dippolito grew up in the suburbs of Pennsylvania just outside of Philadelphia.  When she was thirteen she became a vegetarian and because of that she became much more involved in food and nutrition.  She started cooking with her mom, Kathy, who was always been very supportive with her decision to be meat free.  After high school Alexa attended Temple University and the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, while also working at a local smoothie shop.  She loved working there but had so many of her own ideas that she dreamed of opening her own place.

A year later, Alexa, her parents Kathy and John, and her boyfriend Yuri decided to move into their vacation home in Nokomis.  Looking for a new way of life away from the cold they new it was time to do something different.  After living here for a few months they realized there were no smoothie and juice shops around that were all organic and really based on giving people a healthy product.  With Alexa, now a holistic health coach, they had confidence that she was ready to start her own business.  On March 1, 2014 they opened Island Organics on 231 West Miami Avenue in Venice.  So far it's been going great and the City of Venice really seems to appreciate having a healthy option on the Island.
